First digital newsletter
This is the first edition of the digital newsletter since the presentation of the new Pension Fund website at the beginning of this year. This newsletter is intended to inform you about current developments concerning the Staples Pension Fund.
Amongst other things, this edition contains the result of the vote on the VGB representation and information about the future of the pension fund.

The VGB may respresent pensioners on the Pension Fund's Board
By sending in the voting form, over 2100 pensioners have voted that they approve the VGB representation on the Pension Fund’s Board. Some VGB members, representing all pensioners, are on the Pension Fund’s Board and in other bodies of the Pension Fund.
Once every three years the Pension Fund asks all pensioners (approx.4200) whether they still approve this representation. The result of the vote shows that a clear majority (92%) of the pensioners who send in the voting form (approx. 2300) has confidence that the VGB is a good representative for the pensioners. Do you want more information about the nomination of candidates for the board, please consult the bylaws on our website.
Future of the Pension Fund
The Pension Fund has recently received questions about the future of the Fund. The reason for these questions is probably due to the fact that the Fund is shrinking because new participants are no langer joining the Fund. The Fund's Board has studied the risks facing a shrinking fund and has undertaken a detailed analysis, which resulted in a vulnerability matrix.
On the basis of this matrix, the Pension Fund Board continuously looks whether independent continuation of the Pension Fund is the best solution for all stakeholders and/ or whether a different form has to be chosen. By stakeholders we mean active participants, pensioners, former participants and the employer. This shows that continuation of the Fund in its current form is the best option for all stakeholders. However, it is possible that a different form will be chosen in the future. If you would like to know more, please read the article on our website of look at the FAQ.

Easy login using DigiD
To make logging in to MyStaplesPension even easier, from the beginning of 2017 you will be able to login using your DigiD.
This means you will only need a single login code for organising your affairs with the government and your pension affairs. If you don't yet have a DigiD please apply for one as soon as possible via the website www.digid.nl. Not everyone can use MyStaplesPension at this moment, for instance pensioners and former participants. With the introduction of DigiD, these groups will also get access to MyStaplesPension. You will be informed about this separately.
Increase AOW pension age in 2022
The government has announced the increase of the AOW pension age in 2022 to 67 years and three months. This is a result of the increased life expectancy.
Your AOW pension age depends on your date of birth. Were you born after 30 September 1955? Your exact AOW pension age is not known yet. However it will be at least 67 years and three months. Do you want to know your expected AOW pension age? Use the AOW-tool on our website. On our website you’ll also find more information about the AOW.

About Pensioenfonds Staples
The Staples Pension Fund administers the pension scheme for the employees of Staples and its affiliated companies who were already members of the Fund’s pension scheme prior to 1 January 2015. The Fund aims to be a sustainable and reliable Pension Fund for all stakeholders and to this end the Board has adopted a sound financial policy and checks that agreements are compliant with legislation. The pension scheme does not just provide for your old age; if something happens to you, the pension scheme provides for your partner as well. If you become incapacitated for work your pension scheme has a provision allowing you, under certain circumstances, to continue accruing pension entitlements.
